Welcome to Ife Institute of Advanced Studies

Birthed in 2017, Institute of Advanced Studies, Ile-Ife, Nigeria is an independent non-profit, non-governmental organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigeria, and is committed to advancing research for development in Africa. The Institute’s goal is to improve the capacity of early and mid-career scholars, researchers and professionals in Africa to conduct innovative interdisciplinary research, and collaborate across fields and professions, for national development. The Institute’s programs cover the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, and Health Sciences.

To engender a process of quality knowledge production that would culminate in a dynamic and vibrant community of scholars and researchers who will be supported by a network of non-university intellectuals, thought-leaders and civil servants across the world to benefit Nigeria and the African continent. 

Our Mission

1. Foster cutting-edge, innovative research beyond standard university levels and encourage careful interdisciplinary work at the intersection of the humanities, life sciences, social sciences, information technology, and social development;
2. Encourage the exchange of ideas among scholars and promote deep knowledge in different disciplines;
3. Ultimately, accommodate postdoctoral research for international scholarly communities, possibly in cooperation with other African countries.
