Workshop 8: Professional Collaboration: Co-Designing Work-Based Learning Programmes between Academia and Industry.

Speaker: Dr. Christopher Smith.

This interactive session combined theory and practice, where participants were divided into groups to co-design work-based learning programs.

Additionally, participants had the opportunity to present their individual course pitches in just 30 words.

The engaging session was well-received, and participants gained valuable insights.

Panel Session 8: Navigating Grant Opportunities.

Speakers: Prof. Cyril Obi and Prof. Henrietta Nyamnoh.

Host: Prof. Afe Adogame.

During the session, the speakers provided a comprehensive overview of grant opportunities.

Prof. Obi emphasized that grants should be viewed as a chance to collaborate with experienced researchers and work extensively, rather than as a means to indulge in luxuries. He also discussed the challenges posed by heavy workloads in universities, which can hinder research exploration.

Prof. Nyamnoh reinforced Prof. Obi's points by sharing practical examples and personal experiences. She presented various grant opportunities to the participants and directed them to different websites for further information.

To illustrate their points, the speakers used relatable analogies, comparing grant opportunities to marriage and grocery shopping. These analogies helped to drive home the importance of careful planning, commitment, and strategic decision-making when navigating grant opportunities.

Additionally, she stressed the importance of collaboration and belonging to research associations, echoing Prof. Olupona's earlier remarks.

Overall, the session provided valuable insights into navigating grant opportunities, and participants were encouraged to take advantage of the resources available to them.
