Prof. Olufemi Taiwo

Olufemi Taiwo is a professor of Africana Studies at Cornell University. He was a professor of philosophy and director of the Global African Studies Program at Seattle University in Washington. Professor Taiwo holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Toronto. His book, “How Colonialism Preempted Modernity in Africa” (Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 2010) was a joint winner of the Frantz Fanon Book Award of the Caribbean Philosophical Association in 2015.
