The annual Summer Institute, which started in 2017 and holds from late July to early August, is a two-week residency programme for doctoral students and early-career doctoral degree holders from any part of the world.
An impressive team of senior scholars from Africa and the Global North anchor the sessions at the institute, engaging a wide range of themes and issues that are designed to deepen the understanding of research and teaching mission in the academy.
Participants are normally in residence for the full two-week period of the Summer Institute where they are exposed to new and diverse methods of carrying out interdisciplinary research. During the summer institute, participants interact and foster relationship with and senior scholars for continued mentorship and research collaboration.
Participants are inducted as Fellows of the Institute at the end of the annual institute.
